Managing actions
Use the Actions tab to review and manage follow-up work associated with project equipment. Actions keep required work visible until it has been completed or otherwise resolved.
Find and review actions
Section titled “Find and review actions”Find and select actions
Section titled “Find and select actions”Use Filters to narrow the actions grid. For example, filter by Status to separate open and closed actions, or by Priority to focus on the most important work.
To select actions:
- Select the checkbox beside each action you want to work with.
- Check Selection Count before starting an update, opening actions, or closing actions.
For advanced options, see Filtering and sorting and Selecting items.
View one action
Section titled “View one action”- Open the menu beside the action’s row action.
- Select View Action.
Use this view when you need to examine one action in more detail. It also provides any controls specific to that action type. For an explanation of the record information, scope, and type-specific controls, see the Action Window reference.
Understand where actions come from
Section titled “Understand where actions come from”Actions can be created by inspection results and other project workflows that require follow-up work. Each action retains its relationship to the affected equipment item.
The available controls in View Action depend on the action’s type. For example, some actions may be used to review proposed equipment changes, assess a new equipment item, or create a related defect. Complete these tasks from the individual action view, where you can review the context before deciding what to do.
Update action details
Section titled “Update action details”Use Update to change the same fields on one action or several selected actions.
- Select the actions to update.
- Check Selection Count.
- Select Update.
- In the Update dialog, use + Add field to choose each field you want to change. Available fields include:
- Priority
- Comment
- The project’s other_1 to other_6 fields
- Enter the new values.
- Select Review and check the proposed changes.
- Select Confirm to apply the update.
Only fields added to the update are changed. Other values on the selected actions remain unchanged.

Section titled “Open and close actions”Close completed actions
Section titled “Close completed actions”- Select the open actions that have been completed or resolved.
- Check Selection Count.
- Select Close.
- Enter an optional comment explaining the outcome.

Close actions promptly after the work is complete so the open-action list remains useful. Add a comment when it will help another user understand the outcome.
Reopen actions
Section titled “Reopen actions”- Select the closed actions that need further work.
- Check Selection Count.
- Select Open.
- Enter an optional comment explaining why the actions are being reopened.
- Select Open Actions.
