Defect Window
The Defect Window opens from the three-dot button beside a defect row. It is docked beside the grid and identifies the defect being viewed. The adjacent row-menu arrow provides View Defect for the individual defect view.
The Window describes one defect. Toolbar Update, Open, and Close in Defects instead use the checked rows.
Window controls and sections
Section titled “Window controls and sections”The record interface groups equipment and inspection context, description/question text, and status. History is available from the panel menu.
| Control / section | What it does | Scope / behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| Close button | Closes the Defect Window. | The displayed panel, rather than the defect’s status. |
| Open Eq | Opens the associated equipment. | The equipment linked to the displayed defect. |
| Open Inspection Document | Opens the linked inspection document. | The inspection context of the displayed defect. |
| Re-Open | Reopens a closed defect. | Available for the closed defect state. |
| History | Opens the history section. | The displayed defect. |
Record information
Section titled “Record information”The record combines the original finding with equipment context and information added while managing the issue.
| Information | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Equipment | The equipment tag and associated location/description. |
| Inspection | The inspection associated with the finding. |
| Description / question text | The finding and inspection-question context. |
| Result | The recorded inspection result, such as N for non-conformance or NC for Not Checked. |
| Status | Whether the defect is Open or Closed. |
| Rectification | Information about work performed or proposed to resolve the issue. |
| Priority / Comment | Recorded priority and supporting context. |
| Project-defined fields | Additional defect values maintained for the project. |
The documented bulk update supports Rectification, Priority, Comment, and other_1 to other_6. Its dialog and confirmation controls are described on Defects — Update.
Equipment and inspection context
Section titled “Equipment and inspection context”Open Eq follows the defect’s link to equipment. The equipment description and the defect finding are different information: one describes the device, the other describes the issue.
Open Inspection Document provides the inspection-document context associated with the finding. It is not the grid’s inspection-results upload operation.
Status
Section titled “Status”An Open defect requires further work; a Closed defect records a completed or otherwise resolved issue. The closed-record view offers Re-Open, returning that defect to the active workflow.
The panel’s close button dismisses the Window. It does not mark the defect Closed.
Bulk status changes use Open and Close in the Defects toolbar, with the optional comment and Open Defects / Close Defects confirmation controls described on Defects.
History
Section titled “History”History in the panel menu provides the defect’s change-history section. History concerns earlier changes to the record; it is separate from its current finding and status.
Record and selection scope
Section titled “Record and selection scope”The row opened in the Window identifies the defect being viewed. Row checkboxes determine which defects a toolbar action targets.
Opening a Window for one defect does not restrict Update to that defect. The selection is a separate context and can include rows hidden by pagination or filters.
