Document Window

The Document Window is the individual document detail interface opened from the three-dot button beside a row in Documents. Details open beside the grid. The Window identifies the document being viewed; checked rows separately identify the targets of toolbar commands.

It is distinct from the Equipment Window’s Documents section, which lists documents linked to a particular equipment item.

Document information identifies the file and its place in the project.

InformationMeaning
Document typeThe category, such as a certificate, drawing, inspection record, or photo.
Document numberThe record’s document identifier.
IssueThe document’s issue or revision.
DescriptionInformation that helps identify the document.
CommentsSupporting project notes.
FileThe attached file opened by the viewing and download actions.
Equipment relationshipsThe primary equipment to which the project document is linked.

The project Documents view provides View, View in Tab, and Download. These respectively open the viewer, open a browser tab, and save a copy through the browser.

These actions concern the file. They are different from editing its metadata or changing its equipment relationships. Full descriptions are on Documents — View and download.

Update in the Documents view can apply to one record or several selected documents. Opening one document’s Window does not replace that selection or restrict a toolbar update to the open record.

The update dialog’s + Add field chooses what changes. Review shows the proposed values and Confirm applies them. File replacement can include Archive existing to preserve the prior version. See Documents — Update.

These operations affect different parts of the document’s lifecycle.

OperationEffect
Remove an equipment linkRemoves a relationship; the project document remains.
ArchiveRetains the document outside Live.
Un-archiveRecovers an archived record.
DeletePermanently deletes a project document and removes its equipment links.

Document deletion does not use a Trash view. Project deletion does not remove documents supplied through Account Resources. The commands are described on Documents.

These guides explain tasks connected to the document.
